David A. Cohen, DVM
Dr. David Cohen graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He came to the Glenview Animal Hospital in 1984 and took over ownership in 1985. He brings a wealth of experience to the community. His interests and strengths are in providing a practical and proactive approach to compassionate care. Dr. Cohen lives with his fiancée Dawn and Lulu, a miniature Toy Poodle. When out of the office, Dr. Cohen creates beautiful stained glass works of art and spends time with his four grandchildren.
Manny Kanter, DVM
Dr. Kanter graduated from the Ohio State University in 2004 where he received the award for Excellence in Small Animal Medicine. His enthusiasm and friendly demeanor make him a great addition. Dr. Kanter enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but has a special interest in internal medicine and pain management. It is important to him to help manage pain in our pets whether post surgically, from injury or just making them more comfortable as they grow older. Away from the office, Dr. Kanter enjoys kayaking, biking, watching movies and traveling. He shares his home with his wife Jen and a menagerie of rescue dogs and cats.
Sarah Mateles, VMD
Dr. Mateles graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian is getting to know her patients and their families, and she is particularly interested in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and feline medicine. Prior to veterinary school, Dr. Mateles was an environmental engineer, and completed her undergrad degree at M.I.T. and a master's at UC-Berkeley in that field. Dr. Mateles, her husband, Darrin, and their sons, Sam and Ben, share their home with Daphne, a rescued cattle dog mix, and two cats, Clarence and Max. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, swimming, and cooking.
Missy Tarpey, CVT, Practice Manager
Missy has been managing the hospital since 2006 and brings a wealth of knowledge in doing so. Growing up in her father's veterinary hospital, she followed her love of veterinary medicine through technical school and into several specialty practices. Besides being the practice manager, she also enjoys helping as a technician when needed. Missy and her husband Pat share their home with London, their Old English Sheepdog, with visits from their children Ryan and Jamie and Ivy, the Miniature American Shepherd.
Chris, Patient Services Coordinator
Most of you know or have met Chris. If you haven't met her, she knows you and your pet. She has an uncanny memory for patients. Chris has been with the Glenview Animal Hospital for over 25 years. She is an integral part of the technical staff as an assistant. From helping the Doctors with examinations, to assisting the technicians with procedures and radiographs, she makes sure every patient has a fluffy blanket and lots of TLC. In addition to the animals that she adores here at the hospital, Chris shares her home with her three cats Kippy, Lacey and Louie.
Christy is a certified veterinary technician licensed in the state of Illinois. She has specialized training in anesthesia, dentistry, radiology, laboratory procedures and patient care. She monitors anesthesia and assists in surgeries, performs dentistry, takes radiographs, performs laboratory procedures and of course gives our patients an abundance of TLC. Christy, her husband Jovy and their daughters Aubrey and Paisley share their home with their kitten Lilo and puppy Jax.
She's back! We are so happy that Stacey has joined our staff again on a part time basis. Stacey is looking forward to meeting all our new patients and rekindling relationships with those she has missed. Stacey and her husband Sterling have three wonderful children; Maddie, Maizey and Wes. Sully, the gentle giant, keeps an eye on them all.
Lea, Veterinary Technician
Lea is a graduate of the Veterinary Technician program at Fox Valley College. She joined us the summer of 2015 and we are very happy she did. When Lea is not at the gym, she enjoys spending time with her family; Rich and their three furry kids. Doc the Dachshund, and Daniel, Peter and SinClair their feline friends. Lea brought many skills with her after working at a busy small animal practice and will challenge herself with new ideas.
Becky joined the Glenview Animal Hospital in the spring of 2018 and has been a technician since 2011. She is originally from North Dakota where she graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. In her spare time, Becky likes to travel, visit family and spend time with her husband Kyle and their 2 pets, Bam the cat and a Shih Tzu Bichon mix named Molly. Becky previously worked with Lea and Stacey reuniting to form a great team. With extensive experience working in a busy small animal practice, she is looking forward to learning more and expanding her skills.
Dawn, Client Service
Dawn brings a vibrant and cheerful personality to the Glenview Animal Hospital Client Services team. Although she was new to the field of veterinary medicine, Dawn continues to expand her knowledge to help our clients and their furry friends. Dawn's sons Cody and Dylan bring her much joy as does the newest member of her family, Lulu, a beautiful red Toy Poodle.
Carol, Client Service
Carol joined our family at the reception desk early summer of 2014. After spending many years with a large boarding facility in California, Carol has brought her love of animals of all sizes to the reception area. The desire to be near her family and grandchildren has brought her to the area. Carol has four feline fur babies who share their home with her: Puddledragon, Monkeyman, Mousemello, and Mama Leoni. What fun names!
Michelle, Client Service
When Michelle joined the practice she brought with her experiences from around the area along with an infectious giggle. She has spent time as a fitness professional, kennel manager and client services at another animal hospital. We are so pleased that Michelle has found her way to us. She is always willing to help and share a smile. She and Rob share their home with Clayton. When she is not here, you may just run into her around the area jamming with other local musicians.
